Geoffrey James Atkinson
22.12.1929 – 17.7.2021
Passed away peacefully
Beloved Husband of Kate (Kathleen).
Brother of Patricia. Cherished Father
and Father-in-Law to Jennifer & Tony,
Stewart and Joanne. Doting Pa to James and Daniel.

Geoffrey was the epitome of a gentleman.
His kindness and gentle humour endeared him to all.
Geoff adored his “Katie” over their 65 years together.
A devoted father, he was enormously
proud of his children and grandchildren.

A music lover and singer, he loved
performing Gilbert and Sullivan opera.
Geoff was a lifelong learner, keen
to develop new skills. Geoff loved all animals
and they loved him – drawn to his caring nature.
A great all-round sportsman,
he excelled at golf, tennis and squash.

His dedication to the St Kilda Football Club
was evident in his enthusiastic renditions of
“When the Saints Go Marching In”,
even when his memory was failing him.

The family would like to express our deepest
thanks to all the amazing staff from Casey Aged Care
in taking such wonderful care of Geoff over the
past five years. We are especially grateful for the
kindness and affection the staff provided to
Geoff, Kate and family in his last days.

A Graveside service for
Geoffrey Atkinson
will be
held at the
Cranbourne Cemetery

Sladen Street, Cranbourne on
Monday 26th July 2021
commencing at 10.30 a.m.

Condolences / Guest Book

  1. Darling Dad – I can’t believe that you are not here, but I know you are at peace and wandering as far you you like, for as long as you like – stopping for frequent snacks and greeting everyone as you go.
I will miss your laughter and your singing. I will miss your energy, optimism and boundless enthusiasm. I will miss your hugs and kisses.
You were the best Dad a girl could ever have – always there to support me and endlessly encouraging.
You showed me what a respectful and supportive relationship can look like and I’m glad I found someone just like you.
    Your darling daughter,
    Jennifer xxxx
