Condolences / Guest Book

  1. We will miss you dad ….a life well lived but cut short before your time.. You will be with us always in everything we do – I know you will be hiding around the corner or in the other room . .You may be gone but never will be forgotten. Enjoy your new life up there – the unlimited bowling greens – you should be able to have plenty of games with your mates now. And I hear the fishing is pretty good too. Love Steve and Chris.

You joining in with us and our friends playing soccer when all the other dads sat at home watching the world go by. Watching you bowl, play snooker and then pull out the accordion for a little tune are memories I will treasure forever. You are a LEGEND enjoy the Roll Up in The Sky. RIP

  6. Uncle Doug what an honour to of known you and to know you made a life and love in Australia in the later part of your life. As a kid I remember you and Auntie Doreen coming round ours you would have a crafty roll up on the doorstep while kicking the football down the garden for me to run after.
Then of coarse we had the family parties,it all seems such a longtime ago and yet just like yesterday.Thank you for the letters you wrote to my sister Denise, you was a fine man and the world will be a sadder place without you. RIP dear uncle Doug.

As I try find the words there seems none to describe how much you will be missed. I’ll miss our conversations, your cheeky humour and your strength. You have been an inspiration. I will forever cherish the moments we shared and will carry those memories in my heart with me always. Though you are gone you are still with us, just in a different way. Thank you for being such a wonderful grandad. Love you Grandad, be at peace. Your Mil xo

  9. Dad,I have so many happy memories growing up with you mum and my three brothers.
Four boys that couldn’t have been easy.
Both of you worked so hard to allow us to have had such a happy childhood.
I know each one of us has our own special memories which we will treasure.
I remember you riding home from work at the Weekly News one night with a red bike on your shoulder, I was so excited it was my first two wheeler.
Our family holidays at Butlins, day trips to Walton and Mersea, fish and chip Thursdays and you playing the accordion with mum singing along.
These are just a few of my own memories.
Thanks for buying me my first guitar dad, I didn’t make Top of the Pops but I had a lot of fun trying.
I have your poems, your book of memoirs and the letters you wrote.
I will treasure these and read them often as they bring you closer to me and they make me smile.
I am proud to have you as my dad .
Thinking of you always. Forever in my heart.
See you in the next world dad.

  10. To my Dad, I’m glad to have had you as my father.

Thank you for raising me and my three brothers. Despite being deaf, you helped me to learn, and live a normal life.

I will always remember riding on the crossbar of your bike when I was small.

I will always remember you picking me up from boarding school in Newbury at the end of every term. I was so happy to see you and I will never forget the look on your face on those days, complete with black army beret and budgie feather.

I will remember your talent for drawing and the picture that you drew of our new house at Beeches Road, which you sent to me at school.

I used to enjoy watching you play the accordian and remember feeling the vibration of that, and the mouth organ which you used to play.

I will remember your love of music and breeding champion budgies too.

You were a humble man. We will never forget you. We will love you always. Rest in peace, until we meet again.

With love from David and Gill xx
