  6. Dear Donna
I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful Dad Vincent. He was always a joy to talk with and he was the best junk mail deliverer we have ever had. Always stopped to chat to myself & our boys, when we were outside. The boys were always excited to see him coming & race to the mailbox to get the papers from him. The junk mail was never delivered so reliably after he stopped doing it. I was so thrilled to meet back up with him again at the surgery for his visits. It was such a pleasure to assist with his treatments. Some people you meet over your life, always remain in your memory for special reasons and your dad is one of those people.
May all the special memories you have of him, help bring a smile to your face and a warmth to your heart at this sad time.
    With Deepest Sympathy

  7. Some of my fondest memories of my teenage years were times spent with my dear friend Donna and her beautiful Mum and Dad (Phyl and Vince). It was around 48 years ago when I first met Vince, Vince was a wonderful husband and father who was generous and warm hearted. Vince was always cheery and welcoming whether we were swimming in the backyard pool or playing snooker in the back room at 3 William Avenue, Hallam. Often my brother and sister would tag along too and Phyl would cook up a storm, we shared many a good time and lots of laughs.
Vince was a great Dad, he would often bring in mugs of hot chocolate in the morning to Donna and I to help get us out of our bunk beds when I stayed over. He would greet Donna very enthusiastically with his pet name for her Rise and Shine ‘Poppa Chicken’ or ‘Donna Maree’ when he was a bit more serious, depending on how resistant Donna was to getting up. I always thought Vince was so proud of Donna and so patient. He sat through many of her rehearsals and performances with Phyl by his side and he was always supportive and cheering her on. I loved being there but not all Dad’s are so supportive.
Vince would take Donna and I out on his speed boat sometimes on Port Phillip Bay, when he wasn’t working hard in his pristine garden. One day we got sun/wind burnt from stretching our legs out on the back of the boat, we ended up having trouble walking the next day. We still laugh about it!
I was so privileged to talk to Vince on the evening of his 98th birthday recently when he said he would take us out on the boat again if he was feeling a bit better. I said I would love to come to if it wasn’t for the CO-VID border issues as I now live in Sydney.
Vince was remarkable man and will join his lovely wife Phyl at rest. We will all miss him!

  15. Dearest Donna Doo – what a wonderful service for your dear dad. What an amazing and interesting life he led. Most could only imagine doing half of that. He would have loved hearing what you all had to say about him today and would no doubt be smiling and having a ‘cheers’ with your dear mum now. Our love and thoughts are with yourself, Ben and Belle, and family. It was unfortunate we were unable to come along today due to restrictions, but please know our love and respect is no less. We will now have a send off beer and say ‘Cheers to Vince’, ‘a most amazing man’.
