COVID times do none of us any favours – more particularly people like Robert.
I have many lovely memories of Bacons Drapery in Drouin and Robert’s involvement in the family business.

  4. Robert and I first met at the Methodist young men’s hostel in St Kilda in 1963. We had very different professional work interests, Robert Drapery and mine Radio Communications. We just seemed to click. Robert was best man at my first marriage. We always had a great relationship but due to many circumstances we did drift apart in the last few years. The world would be a better place if there were more people like Robert. Wonderful memories of a great friend and a true Christian.Rest in Peace.

  6. Hi there Melinda,
i was very sorry to hear of the death of your dear dad. i have very fond memories of him, particularly at the shop and also when he came to the school. He was always, so polite, helpful and cheerful, some-one who made you feel good, just being out and about. So sorry you cannot be with him today. Please know that the thoughts of many are with you, Cameron and all the family, love, Jill

  10. Melinda and family,
Your dad was a truly special man, though I did not know him personally, through the beautiful eulogy to your dad I can see and hear the love and memories that you have shared over his wonderful lifetime. The love and memories of your dad will fill you with that special joy when you are reminded of him – when you take that train trip or see a Pin on the ground !! Time heals the pain, but these memories will last forever.
I feel the pain that you are feeling now and know that you have had very special times with your dad that will remain with you all forever. Love to you and the family.

  11. So sorry that circumstances prevented us from being present to honour Robert today, but we “participated” via live-streaming which we very much appreciated. Our sincere sympathy goes to Kath, Cameron, Melinda and their families. Robert was “Drouin” through and through, and a great community contributor. With kindest regards, Pam & Keith Pretty
