  8. Grandpa Always so cheeky, always made me laugh, always so kind, and a true blue hero to the end. As a child I absolutely adored you, and felt so honoured every time you asked me to help you with the horses. I will forever remember all those mornings following you around like a little minion, carrying a sack of hay for you. Now that I’m older I aspire to be like you, live life to the fullest as you did, and carry on your extraordinary legacy. When I got my first phone you were the first person I texted and the first person to text me back. I will never forget sitting next to you on the chairlift at the snow, and seeing you whip out a never ending supply of chocolates from the inside of your jacket for me. I will never forget racing you on pool ponies, the crazy tan lines on your calves from the boots and fluffy socks you never seemed to take off, or singing amazing grace at the top of our lungs on the deck so that all the neighbors could here. I will never forget how proud you were of me when I got my first job, or how much you truely cared about every little thing in my life. I love you so so much Grandpa. Rest easy. Till we meet again. Love Caitlin ❤️

Thank you for always making me me feel so welcome in your home Geoff, as a kid your door was always open as Em came home with three friends in tow and that certainly didn’t change as we all grew up and became adults, had families of our own. 20. Reading these heartfelt messages and seeing these beautiful photos of Geoff bring a tear to my eye but equally a smile to my face. The memories shared, condolences sent, the outpouring of love on display, reminds us that although Geoff has moved on to greener “pastures” (pardon the pun, but I’m sure he’d appreciate it!) he will never be forgotten and will continue to live on in the hearts of the people who love him most. Today as you say goodbye to your dad, husband, grandpa, brother and friend, take joy and comfort in remembering the good times shared with a man who, I’m sure with his unique approach to life, has provided many funny stories for you all to reminisce about over the past few days. I have many memories of seeing Geoff head off to feed his horses … or more likely – return on his pushy after we’d awoken from many a late night sleepover at his house, (unless of course, we hadn’t been to sleep yet – equally possible!) Always returning with a massive smile that truly lit up his face and expressed little doubt that he was doing what he loved most. I’d always marvel at his dedication to his horses, but looking back maybe it was the escape he needed from all of Adele and Emma’s girlfriends camped out in the sunken lounge of his Houlder Avenue home. From allowing us to have Halloween parties, to starring in our media studies productions, Geoff was always a good sport. And sometimes in return, we’d have to play along too when he’d offer to drop us off at a high school disco – there’s nothing quite like getting cleaned up, dressed up and then walking out the back of a dirty horse trailer in heels for the whole school to see! A grand entrance in Geoff’s mind no doubt, but the very last time he’d ever get that gig … maybe cheekily by design?

To Geoff – you’re now free from pain to ride off over the rainbow bridge and into the sunset on one of your beloved horses. It’s been a pleasure to have known you. May you rest in peace.

To Adele, Emma, Paul, Helen and families, may the difficult days ahead be tempered with fond memories and laughter amid the tears. And may you take some comfort in knowing many people have you in their thoughts and hearts from near and afar. Sending you strength, love and virtual hugs. Take care guys.

  23. Some of my earliest memories are of racing meets. I missed many days of school, most gleefully to be able to experience this family tradition. We went to places like Traralgon, Sale, and Stony Creek. It has always been exciting to see the results of a good performance on the track, and the joy and excitement this brought not just Geoff, but our whole family when one of his horses had a win.
A party would not be replete without a speech from Uncle Geoff, and I will miss his toasts, with full of kind and generous words and his trademark sense of humour.

It wasn’t till later in my life, with time under my belt as a paramedic myself that I have had a better understanding of the sheer energy and dedication it must have taken Geoff, not just to raise Emma, Adele, and Paul, but to go to his very demanding job, then train and care for his horses and go back and do it all again. How he ever had time to tend such a productive vegetable garden amongst all of this I still do not know.
It is this energy and dedication that is evident in the beautiful family he has raised, and along the way – the very special people that have become connected with the life he has lived, such as his partner Helen.

My sincerest condolences to the family, friends, and racing community around my Uncle Geoff who are mourning this loss.

  24. Helen and Family
I only knew Geoff as an AMBO and he was as you see him in the photos. That smile was real and it reflected the man that he was. I always found him to be genuine, passionate and fair in all his dealings with the many people he had to deal with every day.
His smile will always linger in our minds.
    RIP Geoff

  26. Sending all my love to all the special people in Geoff’s life. Xxx
Thank you for always saying yes to us girls when we asked for sleepovers at very short notice.
Later in life it was always nice to run into Geoff at the shops. No matter how busy he was he always found the time to stop and say hi, have a chat and take an interest in our lives especially if we needed a tip for the spring carnival.
Geoff will be missed by not only his nearest and dearest but also by the people that have had the chance to know Geoff throughout his life. Xxx

  27. To Adele, Em, Paul and your beautiful families. Sending you all my love and biggest hugs, so many memories, from the ‘penny farthing’ your Dad would ride, to being dropped in Frankston for a night out in the horse truck. Remembering his face watching us girls walk down that ramp (no subtle entrance!).
He made an impact on so many people and he will be forever missed.
    Thinking of you everyday xx

  28. Dear Geoff,
I am so sorry you needed to leave this world and your beautiful family too soon. You were a kind, cheerful man with a wicked sense of humour that kept us all SO amused (and your kids a little on edge!) One of my memories was the time when we were 15 years old and boarded the Berwick blue light disco bus on a Saturday night, trying to be cool and grownup. Next thing everyone is laughing and saying who is that guy banging on the bus window. Of course it was you, looking for Adele, needing to tell her one last thing! She sheepishly walks to the front of the bus to have a short conversation with you and then slinks back to her seat with a bright red face, while you wave the bus of teenagers goodbye! I’m not sure what you needed to say was that important and there is certainly a chance you did it only for a laugh, which absolutely worked for the bus of teenagers… not so sure Del felt the same!
Thank you for dragging us around to horse races, family events and everything else we asked of you. You will be missed greatly by all who knew you xo

To Del, Em and Paul, my heart breaks for you all. I am thinking of you and here for you all as always. Love Megs, Waz & family xo

  30. So sorry to hear of the passing of such a great person. To Helen, Emma, Adele, Paul, Dirk, Warwick and families, I pass on my sincere condolences. I remember him as a very dedicated and loving father, and a person who loved his horses and their welfare. I remember one day at Cranbourne when one of the horses was racing, he saddled her up and put the jockey on board, then went and drove the ambulance following the race, then back in time to unsaddle her – yes it was a work day. I miss him in Cranbourne in the shopping precinct calling out my name at the top of his voice even if right next to me, then having a catch up chat. Many happy memories. A great person taken far too early.
