Garry Richard McGrath
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts,
the McGrath family announce the death of their
beloved father and grandfather, Garry McGrath, aged 80.
A lifelong resident of Nar Nar Goon,
Garry passed away at Shanagolden Aged Care Residence
in Pakenham on Sunday 8th of August 2021
after a long life full of family, friendship and love.
Loving father to Glenn, Jonathan, Kathryn, Brendan,
Christian, Breeanna and Shaun.
A Memorial Service will be held
on Thursday 17th March 2022,
commencing at 11:00 a.m at
St John’s Anglican Church Nar Nar Goon
Please join us for a Memorial Service to
remember and celebrate Garry’s life.
Afterwards, you are warmly invited to join us locally
to share refreshments and fond memories.
In honour of the day being Garry’s birthday,
and St Patrick’s Day, please feel free to wear a touch of green.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation
to the Royal Flying Doctor Service, as per Garry’s request.

Sorry to hear the sad news of Garry’s passing. Even though we hadn’t been in touch for quite some time I have very fond memories of a time when the McGrath’s would catch up at family gatherings. Another link in the family chain broken. Rest easy Garry.

To Harrison McGrath. Just a message to you Harry to tell you how much you meant to your Granddad Garry. Garry looked forward to you coming down to visit so much. He would have a smile on his face for a week once you had called to see him. He always called the front bedroom Harry’s room. Whatever path life takes for you please remember your Granddads example of being an honest and caring person and you won’t go wrong. Warm good wishes young man Andy

To All of Garrys family I send my Deepest Sympathy. Garry and I have been best mates since primary school. Milking cows together so we could race off home and get changed to go to the local dance or to see a picture. I will remember the good times and wish we could have had more time to chat in recent times. Warrnambool is a fair way away but we kept our friendship going for more years than I care to remember. Dear McGrath family , my heart felt condolences for the passing of Garry . He was so proud of his whole family and when Jen and I visited he would always keep us updated of the goings on . We spent many fun times at Briagolong over the years . With Sympathy , Paul Freeman.

Some of my fondest memories of my first few years living in Melbourne are of Garry. If you were friends with his kids, you were immediately his friend too. You were always welcome in his home and you could feel how much he loved his kids and his grandkids and how proud he was of them. He was always ready with a chat, a feed, a hug, an update on his menagerie and occasionally, a bit of medical care when you needed it. Most of all, I remember his laugh. He had such a wonderful laugh and a wicked sense of humour. I’m sure wherever you are now, you’re still holding court and making people smile. Rest easy, Garry and all my love to those you have left behind.
