  10. Father John Readman was a great mentor and friend when I was ministering in the Sale Diocese in the 1970’s. John was always happy and showed a great interest in all who met him. He was a great inspiration to many, and worked tirelessly to promote Catholic education and Vatican ll’s pastoral inspiration and spiritual nourishment. To me he lived the principles of Christ and led others to do the same. We can now ask John to intercede for us and continue his good work through us. RIP John.

  11. Condolences to Fr. John’s family, friends and the Sale Religious team. We did not have the pleasure of meeting Fr. John as we are the younger current Parishioners of Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Narre Warren. We do have a few senior Parishioners who remember Fr. John as the first Parish Priest and a being great inspiration to all. He surely was a true follow of Christ who worked tirelessly in the early days of the Parish, to creat a strong resilient vibrant Parish of 21,000 Parishioners.
Assuring the family and friends of our prayers and thoughts, in this sad & difficult time. May all of you forever hold loving memories and cherish the good times in your heart always and forever!
May Fr. John‘s Soul Rest in Peace.
Alan D’cruz, Gillian Dirckze family and the Parish Council of Our Lady Help of Christians Parish. Narre Warren.

  12. May I add my sincere condolence to Bishop Greg, Priests of the Sale Diocese and family and friends of Fr. John Readman at his passing – an end of an Era.

I thank Fr. Readman for his contribution to Education in Gippsland, and back in the early ’60’s, for arranging for me, to attend a YCS Conference at Genazzano College, this will always be appreciated.
Also thank him for his kindness and appreciation of my parents in those early days and for his welcoming smile.
Fr. Readman, we will miss your fine Priestly example and may you Rest In Peace.

  13. Remembering a young, energetic and enthusiastic Aussie priest who came to the little fishing village of Lakes Entrance as a curate in the early 60’s and did so much to unite the community. He built bridges between the religions by playing a decent brand of football in the centre for the Lakes Entrance football team. An absolute breath of fresh air! He moved onto bigger things but often came back to renew old friendships. I also honor him as a loved and respected mentor to my brother John (Allen). A life well lived. R.I.P Father Readman.

  14. Praying for the repose of the soul of Fr. John Readman who graced our home several times during his time in Bairnsdale. Leo and I remember especially how he thought his visits to outlying parishioners would only last a morning or so but usually took several hours as Leo knew where everyone lived and these days usually resulted in an evening meal prior to his returning home and much talking and pastoral advice which was very welcome. He had a great sense of humour and was truly humble. May he now rest in peace with his God whom he served so diligently.
